One cannot expect a city such as Dresden, Germany not to be a popular tourist destination. Why? Well, because this Germany city has a lot of things to offer that you can find in other famous tourist destinations, and it has even more to offer when it comes to things you cannot find anywhere else but in Dresden.


The attractions that the great city of Dresden offers can be experienced through many and varied forms. History, architecture and culture would of course be at the top of any Dresden attraction list as this city in Germany is renowned all over the world for its architectural treasures, rich history and interesting culture.


The Dresden Zwinger Palace is without a doubt a popular attraction in Dresden. This Baroque palace built in the early 1700's is fortunate not to have been destroyed by the bombs that fell from the sky to the city during the second World War. It is found in a large estate and and the palace also functions as a museum as well as it is a national landmark. It is most famous for the Madonna Sistina or Sistine Madonna masterpiece of Rafael which is housed in this historic palace. This painting has been a part of popular culture thanks to its two famous chubby angels known henceforth as Rafael's angels. Other architectural and historical attractions of Dresden include the Frauenkirche Church, the Royal Palace, the Semper Opera House, the Hofkirche and several others.


The outdoors is also something that attracts people to Dresden City. Millions of vacationers from all over the world and even a large number of Germans travel every year to Dresden to enjoy the freshness and enticing sights of nature. Dresden is considered as one of the most ecologically friendly cities in the whole planet and it continues to preserve the splendor of nature in the city by taking care of forested areas and greeneries which comprises around 63% of the city. There are also many outdoor sports facilities, gardens and parks in Dresden that try to accentuate the beauty of the outdoors and entice people to appreciate it even more.

It also has some very well-known and well-attended annual events including the Dixieland Festival which is the largest jazz festival in Europe and also the Striezelmarkt which is the oldest on-going Christmas market and bazaar in the country.
